The intended audience is healthcare providers, such as physicians, nurses, paramedics, emergency medical technicians, respiratory therapists, physical and occupational therapists, physicians assistants, residents or fellows, or medical or nursing students in training, aides, medical or nursing assistants, police officers, and other allied health personnel. 

 
The BLS Course trains participants to promptly recognize several life-threatening emergencies, give high-quality chest compressions, deliver appropriate ventilations and provide early use of an AED.

In the Instructor-led course, students participate in simulated clinical scenarios and learning stations. Students work with an AHA BLS Instructor to complete BLS skills practice and skills testing. Students also complete a written exam.

Course Content

• The AHA Chain of Survival, specifically the BLS components
• Use of an AED
• Effective ventilations using a barrier device
• Importance of teams in multirescuer resuscitation and performance as an effective team member during multirescuer CPR
• Relief of foreign-body airway obstruction (choking) for adults and infants

HeartCode® BLS Online Program
The eLearning component of Heartcode BLS blended learning, this course uses a variety of eLearning assets such as dramatizations, eSimulations, animations, self-directed learning, and interactive activities to teach students BLS knowledge and skills.

If you come in with a certificate other than the AHA certificate, we will not be able to complete your skills test.

 

This is the Part 2: Skill evaluation performed by a qualified American Heart Association BLS Instructor. Must have confirmation of the e-learning site part 1. The skill portion takes anywhere from ten minutes to thirty minutes depending on performance. 

Classroom Only - Adult and Pediatric First Aid/CPR/AED

 

The Adult and Pediatric First Aid/CPR/AED course incorporates the latest science and teaches students to recognize and care for a variety of first aid emergencies such as burns, cuts, scrapes, sudden illnesses, head, neck, back injuries, heat and cold emergencies and how to respond to breathing and cardiac emergencies to help victims of any age – adults, infant, & child). Students who successfully complete this course will receive a digital certificate for Adult and Pediatric First Aid/CPR/AED valid for two years.

The American Red Cross Babysitter’s Training with Pediatric First Aid/CPR/AED-BL course prepares youth ages 11-16 to care for children and infants safely and confidently. It includes hands-on activities videos and discussions to develop essential real-life readiness babysitting skills.

 

 

The course covers feeding diapering picking up and holding children safety and emergency response. We want to prepare participants well for emergencies but CPR can be physically demanding and participants should ideally weigh at least 85-90 pounds to participate in this portion of the course.

 

The First Aid/CPR/AED Blended Learning course includes an online portion and an instructor-led classroom skill session. The online portion must be completed prior to attending the in-person training and must be taken on a PC or tablet with a high-speed Internet connection. Allow approximately 2 hours to complete the online portion.

 

 

Upon successful completion of both the online and in person portions of the course a valid 10-year Babysitter's Training digital certification and a valid 2-year digital certificate for Pediatric First Aid/CPR/AED is issued.
